LOSS OF DRILLING ABILITY

Causes:

• Incorrect choice of diamond segments;

• insufficient power of the drive;

• overheating of segments during brazing.

PARTIAL OR TOTAL BREAKAWAY OF SEGMENTS

Causes:

• The drive stand base is not anchored;

• the reinforcement armature is loose during cutting.

FACE RUN-OUT

Causes:

• Wear-off of the spindle’s bearings;

• backlash of support stand base;

• deformation of the core body or extension piece.

JAMMING OF THE DRILL BIT DURING DRILLING

Causes:

• The drive stand base is not anchored;

• the reinforcement is not fixed during drilling, not enough water supply.

BENDING OF THE SEGMENT TO THE CORE BODY (INSIDE, OUT)

Causes:

• Excess feed force; the reinforcement armature is loose during cutting;

• not enough water supply.

FAST WEAR OF THE SEGMENTS

Causes:

• Incorrect choice of diamond segments;

• not enough water supply;

• excess feed force;

• overheating of segments during brazing.

BREAKAWAY OF SEGMENTS

Causes:

• Wear of the core;

• jamming during drilling;

• unfixed reinforcement;

• overheating.

JAMMING OF THE CORE SAMPLE

Causes:

• Breakdown of the core sample during the drilling process; not enough water supply;

• lack of inner overhang of the diamond segments on the core body;

• unfixed reinforcement in the drilling zone.
